How it works

1. You ask. Use the form below to submit your question. You can be as specific or as general as you'd like.

2. We research. We dig into the topic — pulling from real experience, HUD guidance, and current program rules.

3. We answer. Your question may become a blog post, a new guide, an FAQ addition, or a social media post so others with the same question can benefit too.

Your name and email are optional — we only use them if we need to ask a follow-up question. We'll never share your information or sign you up for anything.

What kinds of questions can I ask?

Anything related to affordable housing, benefits, or navigating the system. Here are some real examples to give you an idea:

"I was denied Section 8 because of a felony from 12 years ago. Is that legal?"
"My landlord won't accept my voucher. What are my options?"
"How does getting a part-time job affect my housing assistance?"
"I'm a veteran and just found out about HUD-VASH. How do I apply?"
"My disability makes it hard to climb stairs but my apartment is on the third floor. Can I get moved?"

Before you submit

We answer questions by turning them into guides, blog posts, and resources for everyone. That means we can't provide individual case advice or respond directly to every submission. Here's a quick guide for when other resources might be a better fit:

  • If you need help tonight — call 211 for emergency shelter and crisis resources. Don't wait for us.
  • If you need legal advice about your specific situation — contact your local Legal Aid office for free legal help.
  • If you're in danger — call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or 911.
  • If you have a question about a specific housing program — your local Public Housing Authority can give you case-specific answers.

For everything else — general questions, confusing situations, things you can't find answers to — that's exactly what this form is for.
